In response to a request from economic developers, the Rural Development Council surveyed the residents of Rugby, N.D. about the housing situation in Rugby.

Findings from the survey were used to support the planning of a senior citizen housing complex.

Additional communities participating in housing outreach include Williston, Stanely, Edgeley, Tioga, Carrington and Grafton. Activites include Palm Pilot Surveys and documenting the resulting demographics, which are used to measure both long-term and short-term residence for young folks and senior citizens.

The RDC has brought together many partners in housing including: ND Housing and Finance, USDA Rural Development, Community Works, Fannie Mae, HUD, Community Action, and more.

Childcare is not readily available in rural areas. The RDC is working in rural communities to help coordinate resources in the creation of new daycare facilities.

Rural Connection is a network for rural young professionals aged 18-40. The RDC is is working to bring together YP networks from the cities and rural areas.
